Motor manuals can be found on original model (Ford, etc...)
But it could be helpfull to have a workshop manual for what has been designed, made or assemblyed by Morgan, excluding motors and gearbox which are made by other companies, particularly for new models >2000.

I use also Morganatica.

With hindsight, I think Dave's book might more aptly have been called "Buying and Improving a Modern Traditional Morgan"

I think It's almost impossible for one person to write a comprehensive service manual for all the post long door Morgans. There are simply too many variations and even unknown variables built into the cars by Morgan.

As previously suggested by Tim and Dave, this is where Morganatica comes in and if taken up enthusiastically by practical DIY owners, It would not take too long before every model had a decent service manual including all the foibles and being constantly updated as we find new solutions to the traps Morgan has set for us.

The set up of Morganatica means that (I think) it can be used almost as a database to drill down by Model, Year, Engine etc. to provide a practical go to reference for the DIY owner or even enabling none DIY owners to be able to ask the Dealers a few pertinent questions when they say "they all do that sir"

I've only been a Morgan owner for about 18 months but I've had to learn a lot about my little Zetec 4/4 and I think that given another year or so, I will know just about every nut and bolt on my specific model. Inside out, back to front but hopefully not upside down.

Imagine if the DIY owners who have owned their Morgans for a lot longer than I contributed their findings to Morganatica. That would be one heck of a service manual

I don't think (hope) that it matters if the writings are not as eloquent or photographically perfect as Mr Wellings book or that we might not always get the apostrophe's in the right place. Once it's on there, it can be fine tuned or polished by subsequent contributors.

As an example, check out "Horror's" contribution in the "speedo working, odometer stuck" thread. Imagine if that was databased in Morganatica for future users.

As my knowledge builds, I will certainly try to contribute. I won't be much use to the Roadster, +8, +4 etc.etc. owners but my journey of discovery on my Turn of the Century 4/4 Silvertop Zetec may be of some use to other like model owners.

Sorry if that sounds a bit "Jingoistic" but in a way I'm just being selfish.

I'd rather learn from other peoples mistakes instead of having to make all of my own.

The book title was determined by the publisher after discussion.

Publishers have quite rigid parameters which you only become aware of when it kicks off.

There were about four pages of how to present and format the whole thing.

Examples such as how to write "3.0litre" and presenting numbers up to and beyond certain numbers.
And how to present cc, mm, lbs ft and so on........
It was a real eye opener.

Anyone contacted Haynes for a Morgan manual?

Hmmmm....that would lead to more volumes than Encyclopedia Brittanica to cover all variants.

Gomog, Morganatica, DaveW et al. will have covered a lot already and trying to combine in a single book would be a horrific task.
Anyway, TM can fill in any gaps.

I understand that the publishing side of Haynes has been in financial trouble for the last couple of years, apparently they now sell very few hard copy manuals as moderns are too difficult to work on and the younger generation is not interested in mechanical DIY

Great shame, but I do like my Haynes collection, the early ones are quite oil stained

As a DIYer and a Desk Top PC Owner since about 1980 I have collected all sorts of Morgan Information. It is in My Computer and not organized. Some of it is some trial runs that proved to be no the way to go as I learned more. 98% of the information came from somebody else. When I read of somebody else's problem I often search My stuff to see if I can help them. I often do this. The experience of Lorne Goldman (EMOG Moderator and Author of GOMOG) taught Me that if I make a little mistake this will be what is remembered but nothing about all of the issues I have addressed. This is what influences Me about My contributions.

Very much looking forward to reading it, seems just what I’m looking for I.e practical hints and tips as opposed to a workshop manual showing me how to change the flange gimlet on the 3rd gear synchromesh...
