To balance that thought of silent night, we go to the local church in Seefeld, Austria every Christmas where silent night is sung and for me it is a positively spiritual experience. This is followed by Gluhwein in the village square with more carols played by a brass band. This is actually how Christmas should be.

That sounds lovely I actually prefer hearing it in the original German version - enjoy your time out there.

I always loved Sinead O’Connor singing Silent Night. A beautiful voice. Sadly now she’s converted to Islam I doubt she’ll sing again.
