Rob T, personally I take the wheels off and brush off the underside whilst dry
You can then use this opportunity to check over all the bits that should be tight, plus the brakes, check for any hoses/cables chafing & I then mask over the brake discs and give the under-arches a blast over with a coat of Waxoil, or similar Agree, best done dry using a brush Water to the underside, chassis washers and Morgans don’t work too well together Too many nooks and crannies I’d use Tectyl 506 spray after you’ve cleaned as it’s transparent amber coloured so you can see the condition of everything Much nicer than black stuff everywhere Just be aware that the overspray gets everywhere so do it outside on a still day I did it in my garage and then realised very quickly I had to sheet everything including me - my Mog, me and garage ended up looking like the end scene from ET

Waxoil....on a warm day .....sorted
Many years ago I decided to Waxoyl my MGB GT. I wasn't sure how much to use, and assumed that more had to be better than less. After I finished I left it parked on a grassy bit of our driveway, on a hot day. Needless to say the excess Waxoyl dripped out of all the nooks and crannies and did a fine job of killing the grass, leaving an MGB-shaped image burnt into the grass. 'Er Indoors was not best pleased.

I followed a friend's recommendation to take a screw out of the door striker plate of the MX-5, and squirt waxoil in, to get to the sills. Thought this would be a good idea on the clk as well. Next time I used the CLK I found waxoil all over the seat belts.

Bob - are winter tyres worth it? Very definitely!! I fit them every Nov. and leave them on till the end of March. Cheers Max5.

The centre section of a Morgan never gets soiled in my experience. The wings are best dry brushed with the wheels off, but cover the splines if you have centrelocks. I've started to use a rubber glove which works really well. Pay particular attention to where the front wing attaches under the door. The fasteners changed over time but some brackets are open fronted and retain mud.

Many thanks for all the advice, ideas and tips.
Its now on with the boiler suit ready to put the jacks, stands, brushes and Waxoyl (not forgetting the rubber glove!) into action.

Rob,
I would recommend you use the waxoyl in the spring / summer when the air is warmer.
This makes it easier to keep it a fluid and it flows better into all those little places before it sets off.

Anyone thought of Dinitrol? Comes in different constituencies for different places under the car.

Anyone thought of Dinitrol? Comes in different constituencies for different places under the car. I switched from Waxoyl to Bilt-Hamber Dynax S50 many years ago, following a review in Practical Classics that placed it top of all the underbody waxes in salt spray tests. I reckon it's brilliant, comes in amber or clear formulations is spray cans or tins. I'm sure Dinitrol is pretty good, but I've been totally satisfied with Dynax so never bothered to change again.
