I'm new to this Morgan stuff but one thing thats' struck me is that most Moggie owners give their cars "cuddly", usually female names. Is this compulsory, have I part of my Morgan education missing?

Not compulsory , one gets very attached to one Mog and it/she/he becomes a friend /mistress/creature , unlike most vehicles which have little if any character.

Since my CB360 called Ethel Honda in 1976 I haven't named any of my vehicles.
There is no romance in my soul I guess.

Our Coupe is called Shiny because it is.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

My Roadster is "The Roadster"

My previous Plus 4 was Mr Bumble because he is yellow and black.

My current Plus 4 is Tigger, because he should have been orange, but I lost my bottle at the last minute. But he's bouncy fun fun fun.

Mine is Megan after my children`s favourite book when they were tiny - Meg & Mog hence Megan Mog. A name helps them to feel they belong.

Mine has had several names, none of which has stuck. The current candidate is Elsie (LC = little car) and time will tell if it works.
Developing a relationship with such a characterful car makes a term of endearment almost inevitable. None of my tintops, however, has ever earned a name.

Tony,

Its really down to whether the car (rather than the owner) has soul, whether or not it qualifies for a name!

You have caused me to audit... In my 35 years of car ownership, I have owned 15 cars, of which 4 have had soul, so therefore qualified for a name. (All have been female.)

Whether a car has soul, is of course very subjective!

Regards,

I’ve never given any of my cars names.... except my Morgan! She is called Marilyn, after Marilyn Monroe - great curves and loads of va-va-voom!
