Anyone had any experience using them on steel rims?
I reckon there's about 30mm+ space between tyre wall and wing so plenty of space.
Could always go for wider wheels/tyres, but increasing the track slightly would make it easier to straddle all the speed bumps round here!

If you straddle the speed humps in my area you hit the gearbox cross member . Be careful.

If you straddle the speed humps in my area you hit the gearbox cross member . Be careful. The Plus 4 has the lowest profile tyres of the whole range of "standard" trad cars. Fit 195/65 R15 tyres and you raise the ground clearance by 10mm. Depending on the year model you may be suffering from the well known rear spring sag too.

I used narrow spacers years ago. They really need locating centrally on the hubs and may need extended studs.

I'm thinking of either 5-10mm spacers and see how much meat is left on the studs, or going for the much larger hubcentric style which bolt onto the hubs and then have their own studs - these are about 25-30mm usually (used these on my Land Rovers). I think I've read the PCD is 4x130 - does that sound right?

I use wheel spacers on My +8 Bitsa with disk wheels. When I converted to Wilwood brakes and rotor the caliper interfered with the wheel. The amount of thread loss on the studs are a concern. But I really do not know how many threads are too few. However I am careful to use a torque wrench to insure they are set properly.

Do not know what "PCD" is. I can guess it is 4 studs X 130mm long. Pitch Circle Diameter. Diameter of the circle of the centre line of the bolts.

4/130 is a fairly common wheel attachment.
PCD means pitch circle diameter.
If you drew an imaginary circle around the centre of the studs or wheel holes that circle is called the pitch circle and it's diameter is the pitch circle diameter or PCD.
Many German cars for example use a 5/112 wheel which means 5 studs or bolts on a 112mm PCD

.... - My Plus 4 Sport has 205/65R15 tyres. No grounding problems, but luckily there aren't a huge number of road humps around here!
