Not sure that I am on the correct forum for this topic but over the years I have collected a number of good quality plastic food and drink containers and have tried to re-use rather than discard or send for recycling. I wondered whether anyone had found really good uses for these in connection with their car maintenance. Am conscious that may of the liquids we use may be solvents or corrosive in some way so certain plastics may be vulnerable but I am sure that others on this forum have managed to be more creative than I have so far.

My Dad would screw the lids to the underside of shelves and then put screws etc. in the containers thus doubling the use of each shelf.

I used to do this until one day, I got the jar cross threaded and it fell to the ground. Took me ages to find all the screws.
Here for a good time not a long time!!

Yes the garage is full of miscellaneous containers used to store all sorts of things. Sadly some are storing fresh air since I cant bring myself to throw away something that " will come in useful some day".

The drawback of that is when you have to take your own fixings to a mates and help out his DIY, they are all in the back of the car with no lids

I did some work at Heathrow for BA 30 years ago. I spent time in the hangar (TB?) where Concorde was serviced and they had hundreds of jam jars containing all sorts of aircraft bits and pieces.
