Sorry but you are mistaken. Its debateable whether using a satnav is an offence - that depends on plod and the beak on any given day. But the turn if off after a minute certainly is wrong. Its either an offence or not irrespective of how long it runs.

I didn't say turn it off, I said it turns itself off, so I am not wrong there. It is an offence if the police think it was distracting you from driving.
PS My mistake, A senior moment, I meant Dash-Cams! blush

We had a Peugeot RCZ for a while , (actually a nice car by the way), the satnav on that popped up from the dash and was right in your face, made the thing practically unusable and was rarely turned on.

If all the sad twerps with dashcams blocking their view would report those doughballs with satnavs blocking their view, then report themselves for lacking attention to the road, they’d be doing me a favour! laugh2

None of my (few) Satnavs have turned off their screens automatically. But I rarely use one, even less mount one on the dash.
Both dashcams, however, do so by default. A change of settings can negate this.

The dash cam I bought swmbo for Christmas turns its display off after 2m30s. I have mounted it so that from the driving seat, it is obscured by the rear view mirror and does not reduce visibility through the screen.

If you want to see dashcam footage go to youtube!
A mix of content from poor driving caught by random cameras to dashcam warrior stuff who seem to go out of their way to film and post.
Russia seems a place to avoid! shocked2 scared
