I much prefer leather - particularly on hot days. The old car’s combination of vinyl everywhere except the seats proved to be ideal. Not that I dislike the current car’s luxury.

Still, that’s the magic of Morgans - if we all liked them the same it would be a dull world.

I agree that vinyl can get a bit hot on the skin, but to be honest I don't find that too bothersome - I tend to wear clothes when I drive. smile

When I ordered my first and new Roadster in 2005, my dealer had a blue Runabout just like the one in Berry Brooks' photo here in his showroom. My breath faltered, but I was too fixated on the strong performance of the Roadster. As a newcomer, I couldn't appreciate the Runabout at all. Today I have to say that I came closer to the runabout with the 4/4. I can remember the blue of the runabout, I liked this colour incredibly much.

There is a difference in my memory. I thought that the Runabout was originally delivered with painted steel rims and not with spoke wheels. The car then at the dealer had steel rims, if I don't fantasize.

I also love the narrow rear wheel arches and overal width of the car.
Jays and I measured my car in comparison with his Roadster.
The width of the inside, measured at the door locks, was 40mm narrower.
The exterior width, at the rear wheel arches (from memory) was 180mm narrower.

Finally and regarding the reduced louvres: at the 2009 Centenary, a well known senior MSCC member boasted of the weight saving his fully louvred bonnets had over my bonnet.

I wonder if that was my one Heinz....I traded it in for my new Roadster in 2005.The dealer was sending it to mainland Europe. Like you I was fixated on power and like you I ended up seeing that love, for me, was in the light and nimble 4/4.......

I think he's mistaken! The louvres are just pressed out...no metal is removed is it? smile

Fewer louvres would, I think, mean a quicker car

Less friction and turbulent air

That is Simon's point I think - having a bit of a grin at the senior MSCC members expense wink

Nick, I’m not sure, im my memory the one at my dealer was LHD. Was your car equipped with spoked wheels or with steel rims when she came originally from the factory?
