Just removed my pipes from the engine to remove the baffles. Upon reinstall, is it recommended to apply a liquid gasket sealant?

I've had the pipes off a few times and once at the dealer. Dry fit only. Don't lose track of the nut keeper on the block! Those exhaust nuts will tend to work off. High temp Loktite and a box end 1/2" wrench are valuable carry-ons.

There is a gasket where the headpipe mates to the cylinder head which should be renewed each time the pipes are off. Its not readily apparent on a motor that has been run awhile as the used gasket looks like part of the head. Morgan uses the stainless mesh/graphite style as was used on Harley EVO motors from 1984. Many videos on youtube covering the replacement of these.

A tip from the local Harley dealer is to use the James brand copper wrapped stainless mesh gasket which is much easier to fit and seals without fail.

As for the exhaust stud nuts you can replaced them with a better design metal self locking 'jet nut' as used on aircraft. No need for the locking tab. They have the added benefit of only having a 3/8" hex (available in 6 or 12 point) which then allows use of a 3/8" socket with long extension.

Steve - is the 'jet nut' then a smaller diameter? MMC didn't even bother to tighten my right-side lower nut because, well it was impossible. Same guy must have also assemble the ezhausr pipe to the header because he forgot to use anti-sieze. Left side is fine. But smaller nuts sure would make it all easier.

The diameter of the flange on the jet nut is very close to the face diameter of a conventional nut so no issue there. With the jet nuts I use a 1/4" drive ratchet to "run up" the nuts to 'near tight' while I position the pipes. Once I have the side pipes installed/tightened, I do the final tightening at the head with a 3/8" drive and deep 12pt 3/8" socket which gives even more room.

Why do you need to take off the headpipes to remove the baffles, surely you just separate the pipes at the join after the silencer?

Looks like Michael H and I conspired to cause a thread drift from side pipes off to head pipes off!

You are correct: To remove the baffles in the side pipes there is no need to remove head pipes.

If the head pipes are off, consider removing the cats ?
