Good afternoon all, I need the front brake calipers overhauled/remanufactured on my 2004 4/4. They went off to Brake Engineering two weeks ago but have been returned as they cannot get the boot seals. I wondered if anyone has had theirs repaired recently and who they used.

For almost any Morgan brake parts I use Powertrack Brakes. Haven't let me down yet!

Thanks 'Old Man', they were on the list as was BCS, however I've just spoken with a firm called Classic Car Automotive (thanks Phil at BHM) who are confident they have the parts and can do the job. Watch this space.

Thanks Andy, I sourced some O.E.M rear wheel cylinders from Powertrack at the end of last year. Unfortunately they don't do remanufacture only parts.

If you get stuck Rob, in a week or two I'll be disposing of a pair of calipers from my 2005 Roadster and they are still in good condition.

I just need a nice warm day to make a start on my upgrade.

It's the classic Austin Princess caliper so should be available

For re-sleeving, I use Past Parts tel 01284 750729

Hi, just rebuilt my 4 pot callipers! I took them to Bigg Red just below Worcester and after a good eyeballing of the bits I was given kit number BR203806. Mr Bigg Red said it was the same kit as for Austin Ambassador 1982 - 84 (unsuccessful successor to Austin Princess) but I supose it could do both. The kit was identical to the bits I took out and also includes the gallery seals. These are the square section seals that join the two halfs of the callipers together. Without these you can't separate the two halfs which makes the rebuild more difficult. Talking to the guy from Powertrack, his kit does not have these gallery seals and he did not know where to source them. They will also rebuild for you. Full marks to Bigg Red. 01905 428793 calipers@biggred.co.uk (no financial interest, other bigg reds may be available etc. etc.). swear mad evil mad2 swmbo uk

I will bare that in mind Dave, thankyou. A warm day in a couple of weeks, let's hope so.

Reference the Austin Princess connection Jon

Apparently they are similar to the princess caliper but not the same. The princess caliper is a 'dual system with a link pipe' whist the Morgan unit has a piston seal with a 'scraper ring'. None of which means a great deal to me but I am assured it is so. Indeed if you look at the princess calipers on e-bay the drillings appear to be in different locations. Besides a simple equivalent just wouldn't be Morgan would it.
