Whenever anyone mentions Countryman

I just think of these. Shows I'm old I guess!

I always think of the original Mini Estate, with external wood framing.

Can't get image to link, but you will find one here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mini_countryman.jpg

1961 - 1969 (not sure the Countryman waas available for all that period though).

Who's old?

Cheers,

Nice eh?
MrsW....or rather "MissR" had an almond green countryman Traveller when we got married. It was decorated by her mates with all sorts of crap. My Midget was hidden away at a safe house for the duration.
We sold the Mini to a friend for £100, and it was stolen and rolled into a field..........
What a shame, long gearstick and real wing mirrors, on a D plate. The wood was well rotten though, but not structural on the Mini.

Yep.
Sister had a Clubman Estate. I put a few thousand miles on that and kept it serviced for her when I was home on leave.
I have a feeling it was writtten off after she sold it.

When ever anyone mentions Countryman I think of one of these, in which it was a great privilege to travel on the back seat of from Athens to London in 1966 when I was 7 does that make me even older ?

Anyone wondering what an R56 is I did a blog on one last week, I'd never heard of one before either :-)

My uncle had an A40 which replaced his sidevalve Ford Pop. He was a late learner having been away in WW2, then Palestine in the late 40's. Then my Mothers 'fancyman' also had an A40. We called him "Daft Harold"..........
Cue period drama................

I presume the name had nothing to do with owning an A40 though Dave? smile

I'm afraid the MINI marketing guys have not improved a lot when it comes to product naming ......http://www.insideline.com/mini/clubman/mini-clubman-hampton-to-star-at-2011-geneva-auto-show.html
