So, the new F1 season is almost with us.
Testing starts on Monday at the Barcelona Circuit and most of the players have now unveiled their new cars, albeit some with temporary "camouflage" colour schemes.
Are we excited at the prospect of a great battle between Mercedes and Ferrari (and maybe Red Bull) or are we yawning at the prospect of another year of relatively little in race action despite the rule changes.
I'm quite excited, not because of the rule changes but because of all the team changes this year and the prospect of Kimi acting as a very good test driver for Ferrari in the Alfa team. (Hope that doesn't sound too cynical)
I think Ferrari will give Mercedes an even tougher challenge this year and hopefully with the management changes and Vettel being another year older, we won't see as many mistakes from them.
Actually I'm a Hamilton / Mercedes fan but above all I'd like to see a great seasons racing.

Bob As a Lewis fan (not interested in the off track stuff) I completely agree with your sentiment. Have loved F1 (and MotoGP) for many many years and whenever you have period of domination by one team/driver/rider it does spoil the spectacle a bit. I believe for the last couple of years though that Ferrari were there or thereabouts and they threw it away which must frustrate the neutral fan. But cannot wait once again for the season to start - there have been enough changes to the regs and drivers to make ya wonder what going to happen. Can’t wait to get back to Silverstone. Look forward to chatting with you as the season progresses. Bring it on HB

Looking forward to it with an open mind and hoping the rule changes enable more overtaking.

Also keen to see the lights go green. Also a Lewis fan but hope to see him seriously challenged. I'm very much hoping that Ricciardo and Renault have found some way to move up the grid but I think the weak link there is neither Daniel nor his team-mate Nico Hulkenberg but rather the Renault. Red Bull and the Honda motor? Should be interesting and all in all it should be a good season.

I’ve never really been a huge fan of Lewis but I do admire him for his achievements. It would be good for the sport if he faces some serious challengers this year. These past few years I’ve started off avidly watching the races and then giving up halfway through the season through boredom. Sad as I’ve been a huge F1 fan since my teens.

I would love to see McLaren and Williams more competitive this year.
In the absence of porcine aviation, just seeing some competitive racing would be a treat.

I’ve never been as disinterested in F1 as I am in this season. Thanks to Bernie I won’t be watching any races as I don’t take Sky and my only option is recorded highlights if I can avoid the result before the race is shown. Not likely then. The short term financial gain of taking Sky’s money has repeatedly shown to damage sport, cricket viewing and participation fell away, same for rugby and boxing. F1 viewing in countries where it is subscription only has fallen dramatically. People who are F1 addicts will already have paid up, a few more will pay up but most casual fans like me won’t pay and interest will wane.

Neptune, you are aware Bernie sold out finally. Liberty Media ? Not meant in a rude manner. I don't think the tweaking they are doing is making it any better to be honest. Some of the cheese they added last year made me grimace.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
