That doesn't sound good and yet another bit of electronics to shorten the range of the EV grin2

If the sat nav is as good as mine on speed limit who is to blame when the limiter gets it wrong?

Hopefully as we are leaving or seem to be leaving the EU sometime soon then it shouldn't get further than the English Channel ?

What is wrong with speed limiters? A previous post was about speed awardness courses. I don't see the point though if they can be over ridden.

Whilst it looks as though they can be overridden....which they should be in the case of an emergency...it seems that data loggers will be mandatory. And who checks those?

It’ll be interesting to see just what effect it has on the car market particularly for sports cars. Every new version of a car seems be more powerful than the last and to what end?

Cripes, I just got keener on leaving the EU.

On the basis that they will not be retrofitted all the older cars just got a lot more interesting! I don't condone speeding but at 3am on a clear M3/A34 sitting dead on 70mph would just be a tedious waste of life.

Completely irrelevant if you drive up and down the M6 as I do. If I average 45mph it is a cause for huge celebration.

Such a device would be usefull in RTC’s etc with logged data. A modern car ecu system has the ability to show such data butto what extent I am not sure.
I would be wary about a device cutting in to control my car based solely on a speed limit. What about other vehicles in the vicinity? I remember a track day in a dual controlled car at Silverstone. On Wellington straight at full tilt I braked at the marker cone but felt the pedal go away as the instructor pressed his. Very disconcerting to say the least as I fleetingly thought the brakes were failing!
It seems like a step towardsdriverless cars.
Didn’t JLR fit a traffic light sensing system to control your speed to facilitate less stopping? Alarming.

Just an after thought...why not have anaudible warning built into the vehicle linked to speed limit instead? My satnav has this so with satnav becoming standard in cars easy to do.
