Over the last few weeks I've watched e-bay and bid successfully for two Vitesse Morgan Plus 8's. Vitesse made a range of Morgans with different wheels and accessories, which are really quite good. There are a few compromises - the narrow body, the lights are a bit dodgy - the front wing lamps are orange.......and the bonnet has a Supersport scoop in the offside, but it's not too noticeable. The cockpit is well detailed with a slightly oversize Bluemells wheel, and traditional dash. See what you think:
This is the Royal Ivory G reg plus 8 with hood erected, and alloys.

Here's the Indigo blue version with hood stowed - I think the wires are photo etched with two eared spinners. This is on an X prefix plate.
Both are from a limited run of 1224 and are numbered on the back.

Dave - is it the same as this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/VITESSE-29301-MORGAN-CLOSED-ROYAL/dp/B0030781BA

I'm hoping to snag one since my Plus 8 is the said Royal Ivory - cheers

'G' - so based on the very first +8 of '69.
Not sure how the rear lights were configured that early on (on the blue one they're wrong - but probably a lot stronger than fitting the correct style). I'll try to remember to take a look at our handicapper's +8 when he next brings it to Prescott (it's on an 'H' suffix.

Trevmar, thanks for that link - at least it's the right colour and body shape (narrow) to match my '76 4/4.

Cheers,

That's the one Trevmar.
Graham - there's a number of 4/4's available from different years including a Supersport with roundels.

Hello all,
when I started to look for diecast models of Morgans I was really surprized!
Over the years there have been quite a few models from a dozen or so different makers.
Actually this topic would justify a TalkMorgan section in its own rights. nerd

My latest addition is the brand new "4/4 Sports 2008" model by the Japanese maker Kyosho.
The Kyosho models are the best I have come across so far. Very detailed and of excellent
quality. smile

I've always resisted diecast models because I'd have ended up spending a fortune on them. Maybe in a few years when I have some disposable cash, I really like the 'nice' ones (that unfortunately tend to be £100+...); I'd like a nice row of my 'favourite' cars in chronological order. Because I'm that sad.

Kyosho, as noted, are excellent. They make a 1:12 F40 which is unbelievably good. The price matches it...

modelenium.co.uk is a good website if you fancy a browse.

Dave - just got my 'vitesse' model, sad to report that although it's a faithful reproduction in the geometry department, it sure ain't Royal Ivory...........more like Tippex White IMO. Grrrrrrr.......
Well I suppose I could paint it with the correct hue as my plus 8 was supplied by MMC with a pot of Royal Ivory touch-up paint....

Kyosho models are excellent, as are Spark; however, I've head mixed results with the others.

As a side note, the Carrera 'Scalectrix' Aeromax is quite nice - you can also buy the Plus 8 part of the set on eBay. Having not owned a Plus 8, I can't say how correct it is but given the quality of the Aeromax, it may be worth a look.

I'd agree with that. And the passenger wiper is missing on mine.

Never mind, it'll go in the display unit anyway. As for the Carrera cars I have several additional ones now - all I need to do is get things set up and run them...

Still waiting for the black 4/4 Sport model I ordered over a year ago - there are 4 colour variants, two recently released, the other two (one being black) are still not available...

Cheers,

Hello Graham,

I am a bit surprised you were able to order a black 4/4 Sport model by Kyosho? thinking
I just (re)checked the Kyosho website (the Japanese version, as this is usually more up to date). I could not find any hint as to other colors than the green (No.K08115G) or red (No.K08115R) which are on sales since a few weeks.
