Welcome, Mac.

Since 2011 had a Roadster and now, since the end of 2014, a Plus 8.

I park in supermarket car parks, multi story car parks and at events and I have never locked either car.

I was advised never to lock the car with the hood up as the cost of repairing/replacing a slashed hood is far, far more than the value of anything inside the car. I leave a few things in the car, but nothing of any value.

When I have a case on the rack I do use a security strap and the soft bags behind the seat I secure to the roll bar with a small bicycle lock.

The storm cover is excellent for overnight parking as, Dave W says, you will know if it has been disturbed.

Morgans, for the most part, are not a car targeted by thieves as they are so conspicuous and relatively rare. I spoke to the people at Gott and Wynn and they told me that they have never had a claim for theft of a Morgan. Most claims are single vehicle accidents, and windscreens.

Hi Peter and thanks. That's an interesting thought...but I think it'll take us some time before we're brave enough to casually do so!

I can be a bit OCD at the best of times, so at first I'll most probably not be able to leave the car without having clear line of sight! sos

Counting the days down! Only reason we can't take delivery now, is that we're having an upgrade done to our garage (insulation etc) beforehand in order to give it / her(?) a nice new home.

Cheers all.

Mac

Very good point Peter made about not locking the doors if you have parked with the hood up

I don’t think I’ve ever locked my doors on any occation but mostly they have been covered by a tonneau cover with press studs over the doors so it would be quite awkward if someone wanted to open the doors

Can't say I can ever remember locking my Morgan's in forty eight years of ownership. Just insured with Gott and Wynn who say there is no need to put the hood up every time you park the car.

It's not being paranoid.... they are lovely cars.

I generally avoid parking anywhere dodgy. But I've never locked any Morgan I've had - there's no point. As above, don't leave anything valuable in it (including the manual and service record) overnight and look at getting a storm cover.

Many Morgans have a power cut off switch under the bonnet somewhere. Some owners turn the power off as added security.

I left a bottle of wine on the passenger seat once. Car was parked up for several hours. No-one took it. I always thought it would look like a candid camera set up so no-one goes near it.

In my case, having no external door handles helps confuse any would-be low life!
