Hi David In anticipation of new Mog arrival I have just ordered one from MorganHoods following a trawl of TM. Not arrived yet and thus not tested but John was v helpful on the phone and it seems to my untrained eye competitively priced. I'm sure others exist and more experienced peeps will be able to offer ideas HB

They are very good for security & if you get the long one that goes over the bonnet then rain is kept off the engine. In the 4/4 that means the holes for the plugs do not fill up with water. I have John Taylor one. But don't use them on a dirty car or the wind will move the cover & scratch the car. This isn't my car but you can see you can use them without putting up the roof.

I guess it depends on where you park the Plus 4 and at what time of year. Personally, if you are often touring, or staying away overnight, in the Plus 4 I think the answer is yes. For recommendation my money is on John Taylor, www.morganhoods.com. Usually an advert in the back of Miscellany. One benefit is to protect the hood itself from the rain, when parked the heavy rain can work its way in via the area around the sidescreens, also protects from bird droppings, sap, etc. The section over the bonnet will prevent the rain from getting in via the louvers. The spark plug recesses in the zetec and duratec engines tend to fill with rain water which corrodes the spark plugs. If you are adventurous and travel in certain climes you may experience hail stones which can seriously damage a Morgan bonnet (don't ask me how I know). And lastly they do provide a bit of security, hiding contents from prying eyes.

I bought a John Taylor (Phoenix) cover for my Plus 4. I only use it for overnight stays. It covers the engine louvre so prevents rain water getting into the engine compartment. The cover also offers an extra barrier to anyone up to mischief. It can be used roof up or roof down.
On a trip to the Isle of Man, where it was blowing a gale overnight, I noticed some light marks on the paint work, which polished out where the cover was whipping with the wind. Overall highly recommend.

I have this full one for my Roadster - click below for details. Lightweight and very comfortable fit. Used it many times when away from home in all weathers. Multi-layer and breathable. For the quality the price is very reasonable. Comes in its own valise with securing straps and optional steel lock kit, although value of this is dubious.

I used mine all the time, whenever the car was left it was always put on (hood up or down) great for security, protection from bird muck, tree sap etc, I had the cockpit only size as I was worried that the one over the bonnet would mark the paint with frequent use (even had one made for my aero) they were really good! (for what they cost they are invaluable!)

I have a John Taylor one - but only the cockpit cover as I found that the one that goes over the louvres "patinated" the bonnet when it got windy. The cover is great for quick security when parking up with top down and good when travelling or even at home when the car is dirty and I don`t want to put the full length cover on. I once knew a Rev. David Gibson - assuming it`s not you.

I had a cockpit only cover but subsequently bought one that covers the bonnet as well following a situation where rain got under the bonnet, through the firewall and into the ECU. Would highly recommend them when away from home.

I do also always carry the John Taylor with me. It is a protection from Rain, Dust and not everybody can see what is stored under the cover. I sometimes park the Morgan with hood up but without sidescreens so I needet a bespoke cover with longer wings at the doors. And I got it from John Taylor! Great service!
The standart version was a little bit to short (without sidescreens and hood up).
