A towel
Essential Morganeering kit
I carry two
A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

Impressive list already but a quick check in my own tool tray, glove box and door panels, reveals a few more things that I always carry in addition to many of those listed: 1 x canister of tyre weld 1 x small multi-tool 2 x collapsible chocks 1 x tyre pressure gauge 1 x small ally screw top canister of sun screen 1 x microfibre cloth 1 x small bottle of water for windscreen 1 x folding brush for post beanie hair 1 x log book (only when travelling) 1 x spare pair reading glasses 1 x small bottle of spectacle cleaner - mainly for sunglasses A few sheets of kitchen roll I always take a small log book and a small phone battery power pack with me but don't leave them in the car.

A set of two CH Hanson automatic locking pliers. 1x 10" curved jaw and 1x 7" needle nosed. A great piece of American engineering.

A towel
Essential Morganeering kit Agreed. As soon as my towel gets dirty I swap it for a clean one in the next hotel.

Bet your spell-checker went mental.
