A question for all Trad owners. Today is a very decisive day. I don't know how you feel, but I got a different sense about my 4/4.
So far it was an anachronistic car that was still being produced. From now on a traditional Morgan is a classic car. Almost overnight. Do you feel the same way, or does it have no influence on the perception of your Morgan. 4/4, Plus 4, Roadster?
Are you rather proud to have such a car or do you long for a "modern" Morgan in a traditional outfit, regardless of whether you want to afford it financially or not.
Do you now feel like the lucky owner of one last "real" classic Morgan, or do you think you have a technically outdated car?
I personally don't know yet. The Plus 6 is certainly very cool, but maybe the feeling will increase to my 4/4...and the next two years will show, in theory, I don't even know if I want to or could afford it to purchase another Morgan. and in this sense I mean my question to you.

The Plus 6 is the car I would have taken delivery of on the 20th of March 2012 if it had been available. Unfortunately it is 7 years too late for me.
I'm happy with what I have but in many senses the Plus 6 is closer to the car I expected to have. Perhaps the Plus 6 has more power than I wanted and the probable "metric" Plus 4 will be closer to the performance I would have been looking for.
I have always puzzled over why the trad Morgan was so far behind the times. Chances are that if I had really understood that I would not have bought it.

Giles, I can understand Peter He has wanted a car like the Plus 6 is for years. Peter wanted innovation and development. It could be a 200 horsepower car. Peter's idea was always that Morgan should have evolved in line with the times. Now it happened...because it had to be.

Shouldn't really be a surprise Giles. Look at what I have done to the Plus 4 to get as closes as I could without spending ridiculous money. Some of my early posts on the forum touched on this very topic, that is to say the desire for a modern sports car with a classic body on it.

Heinz, it makes me wonder why Morgan persevered with cart springs at the rear for so long. With third party suppliers offering suspension upgrades for such a long time, it seems almost perverse to have done so. If the ride was improved I would have been enjoying the experience a lot more. The plus 6 looks like a great advance, (and appealing to different market) so yes, my retro 4/4 feels like a classic now (but it would still feel like a classic if it had 5 link rear).

Ten years ago I wouldn't have considered a Plus 6 under any circumstances.
I would have stuck with my MGV8.

True, I do recall your posts on the subject of a more modern chassis in a classic shape, but with a more modest engine capacity than the V8s, but as to your mods to the plus 4, I just assumed you were indulging in some classic Morgan fettling.

I think the trad models are valid because for many customers it is the only practical way to experience a genuine classic car and the outdated design aspects are essential to that experience. The aero models were equally valid because of the adventurous styling with a new chassis concept for Morgan, allied with the Morgan coachbuilt bodywork. What makes me uneasy is putting a trad style body on the new chassis. Is that an advance on the Plus 8 concept or is it the start of making cars that are just a pastiche of a true Morgan for buyers that just see it as a fashion accessory?

The Plus 6 is the car they should have been making at least a decade ago. They should be a lot further forward than they are now.
All classic Morgans are technically outdated by a country mile.
I will never purchase another, or be able to afford to.
