Think i posted something a while back wondering when Morgan would produce a Lotus "Project 1 Eleven" car with a small engine instead of the stupidly greedy BMW V engine. With Lotus men onboard they're heading towards something sensible that should prove a commercial sucess.
With great tub design and independent suspension it should be a lovely drive. I've been a fan of the M1-eleven cars coming out of Hethel for a long time owning an S1 Elise 160 and a S2 Exige 300 and have yet to push them to the point of unsettling them on any public road, Really would like to try the Morgan with its ali tub, may be next to go will be wooden superstructure, maybe that needs to stay so they can market it as a Superleggera model. Next up must be a 2.0 litre version with 200/250 hp, it would clean up in the market place, MMC would need to move to one of the 3 uk car plants that are about to become vacant when the brexiteers finally have us severe the ties to the mothership.

What I’m asking myself... in the long term, will MMC continue building the “old” trads, as a (still) affordable “entry level” car, or will they go in a direction of becoming another supercar manufacturer?

Ivo, I don‘t believe MMC will become a super car manufacturer only. That's what broke Wiesman's spine. Morgan won't be so stupid as to alienate his regular customers who want to run a car that is bourgeoisly affordable. If it does, I give no guarantee for Morgan's future.
On the other hand, I almost believe that the era of the old ladder frame is over.

Heinz. I think the price of the cars is already high for the market. The only possibility of bringing them down to a reasonable level is more efficient production in greater numbers. The true Classic Morgan must have a limited market.
I suspects that Aero styled cars with a more modern but still somewhat classic look will eventually be sold in much higher numbers and at more competitive prices.
Limited production high priced supercars will not cut it with the existing competition from the likes of Porche, AM, Maserati, Lotus, etc.
Realistically the price level of the Plus 6 is not bad but it still lacks some sophistication that many buyers would expect for that sort of money.

Maybe I have to see it in real, but to me, it does look a bit strange to me. As said before quite blocky and it does not have the elegance of a trad. But it may be better in real.
I do think, they will go the high price direction. The production is limited and they now sale again in the States. So why build a 50‘ 4/4, when you can build and sell a 100‘ aero +6 or whatever? I have a slight idea, what an italian investor will prefer. 😏

The PlusSix looks very good- and even the rear wheels are correcty positioned in the wheel arches
