Greetings TM's
A Morgan owner close by had problems with his 2012 Roadster with the Ford Cyclone engine. Had to give him a short tow back to a garage where they diagnosed through the OBD reader a Mass Airflow Meter problem. The exact code I do not know but the car has only done around 13000Kms. Has anybody else with a Morgan with this engine had a similar fault?
And has anybody had any experiences good/bad or otherwise about using a Mass Airflow Meter cleaner? The MAF seems to be a delicate bit of kit so would appreciate comments please

Easy enough to remove and check.  Note the MAF sensor is fitted upstream of breather return so hopefully no contamination from such. You can buy cheaply an OBDII bluetooth dongle which will link to matching app on your phone or tablet to display a huge range of parameters. Ford seem to have just one protocol so any dongle advertised as good for the marque should work.

The breather return on my 4/4 is also fitted downstream to the MAF sensor but the airfilter is between this two units. Concerning the 3.7 there is no filtersystem between the two items. I don‘t know if this can have an impact on the MAF.

Richard your photo is exactly like Derek's car. I suppose a good possibility of contamination from the breather seeing it is fairly close. On searching this problem t seems to be a fairly common problem. I presume the breather is not repositioned from what is in the Mustang. The pictures look similar to yours Richard and the car in question.
Heinz my German is non existent so I take it it is specific for MAF. I believe down here there is a CRC product.

I’ve cleaned my wife’s Volvo MAF of oil contamination using Carb Cleaner with no after issues.
1999 Morgan Plus 8. 3.9 ....

Doug, it may be worth checking if the filter housing is fitted with the original Ford spec of a dry paper filter, or has the owner swopped it for a K&N type which are 'oiled'
This oil can lead to MAF contamination
