The Pistonheads article on the M3W gives the most detail I have seen published on the ACE / MMC relationship

I have asked for clarification on this point and will post a response as soon as I have an answer. I'd echo what other posters have said that asking MMC ( or is that MTW) what has happened here is the right way to go. I don't think it is any secret that I'm not a fan of the H-D lump and I rate the S &S a much better piece of engineering but I do agree that the phrasing, " will be availsble for the first year etc" is unfortunate and I'm also puzzled becuase weren't we led to believe that one ( even the main) reason for choosing the H-D engine was to appeal to the US market where they saw a lot of sales coming from Cheers, G

I spoke to the factory and they confirmed change, apparently they did want Harley engine as it would make servicing straightforward via Harley agents in the US. Looks like Harley offered the engine in emea but guess some kind of branding issue kicked off, guess HD suspect they might lose top end sales? who knows. Factory said S&S make the engines for Harley. The engine in question seems to be an S&S X-wedge which is well reviewed and seems to be a custom engine for one off bikes with good hp and reputation. It appears to have a 56' angle as Harley have a copyright on the 45' configuration. Which it seems makes it a bit smoother. Jay Leno has had one built in to a one off bike plus found a sound clip on youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-47Yo-NbZo&feature=relatedbh

Turns out the X Wedge has EFI, and a non-adjustable ignition timing. I wonder how much the EFI is able t cope with low octane fuel, say, 86 or 80? From here (it's a PDF download): http://www.sscycle.com/uploads/instructions/106-3756.pdf

I would love to be proved wrong but I'm pretty sure that it is no longer possible to buy any non-efi ic powered vehicle these days - not even an Indian Royal-Enfield

I'm sure the S&S engine will be fine, but firstly why did they change from the original HD engine ? I feel sorry for all those 'waiting owners' who have already bought their 'Harley' Leather Jackets.

People on the forum of Horizons Unlimited seem to be able to. I'm not sure that "normal" Harleys are electronically fuel injected either. But either way, some EFI's are better at coping with low octane fuel than others (apparently), so I hope it will do that just nicely.

I have confirmation that there will be only one engine - which was exactly in line with my expectations and what I was aware of reference the move from Harley as a possible supplier to S&S.
Here are the key points and an exact quote from MMC: -
"The S&S X Wedge 1917cc engine is the most advanced fuel injected V twin on the market today, designed from scratch by S&S excellent and experienced engineers with emission capability to extend far further than any other existing V twin.
The 56.25 deg V angle makes for a far smoother and vibration free running , this coupled with a one piece forged crankshaft with an extra 3kg of weight helps balance out any vibration too.
Morgan have chosen S&S as a proven, successful and quality supplier for the 3 wheeler power, which will continue indefinitely."
The wording of the release may have caused some doubt as to whether there would be another engine choice but today I was told that there wouldn't be and that S&S X Wedge is the only engine for now and the future (as per the above quote).

Ah, I did not realise that. What new Model H-Ds are available with carbs?
