I have MWS stainless wires, which replaced original chrome wires that were showing signs of pitting after only 3 years of dry weather use. Never looked back. They still look as new after 10 years, zero maintenance other than a light spray with wheel cleaner (actually I use a mountain bike cleaner, Muc-off) when washing the car. I have never polished them as suggested above! Mine is a narrow body 4/4 in silver and personally I think the stainless wires look great.

Having had both stainless ( brilliant for lack of maintenance ) and painted, I would always go for painted. I don't like the "bling" look of stainless or chrome on a Morgan. I'm with you on this Reg. I vastly prefer the traditional look of painted wires. I also confess to having reservations as to the combination of wire wheels with wide 6" or even wider rims, I don't think it looks quite right somehow. But shiny spoked wheels are hugely popular, so I guess it's us that are out of step?

That makes, at least, three of us!

Having had a 4/4 Sport for 4 years and 24,000 miles I loved the look of the black wires but a total PIA to clean. I would go for stainless wires now, I've had the alloys on both my Plus 8's and they save so much time when cleaning and I prefer the look.

My 4/4 has black painted stainless wire wheels. Um why is it that the nuts for want of a better word are going rusty. The paint is flaking off only on that part. The wheels were standard stainless sprayed by the dealer on request, but obviously the nuts are not stainless.

I find them easy to clean and they look ok dirty too.

I prefer painted, Black or silver for a more period correct look, or painted to contrast with body work. Don’ t like the bling on a Morgan, gives the impression of a kit car.

Thanks for the thoughts and advice / experience so far. I am still torn as to what to do. I note the sensible approach to stainless wires from many peoples experience, but in the 1988 brochure the image for the +4 has red wheels matching the red interior and the bodywork is blue, same colour scheme as mine. In my opinion it looks superb and I would love to replicate it. My heart is ruling my head....but it is a big hole in the wallet for wheels that may flake. Perhaps Heinz you have the right approach - just buy the painted wires and get them repainted every few years... Geoff
