http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/galleries/510981/From_sun_to_snow#commentsIt happened to me at the same time last year on one of the best drives I’ve had, I didn’t have the luxury of an easy up hood, so by the time I managed to stop and throw it up, the car was already full. No harm was done, it mostly all shovelled out with my hands once the cloud had passed.

Not in the Morgan but once had them strip the paint off the leading edges of the wings on my Grumman AA5 Had them punch holes in the ABS plastic wing tips and dent the full length of leading edges of wings on a Piper PA28R Only the prop saved the windscreen!

Been there suffered the pain. The ears are the most sensitive, really hurt! Had to stop. I discovered it was possible to put the hood up without getting out of the car, just enough to keep the hail out.

Heehee, familiar with hail induced pain! Fortunately, my delightful navigator, the lovely Clare, formerly of MogMag (wonder how she is getting on?), erected her umbrella once we'd pulled into a small side road. Pointless trying erect the hood on my first (1976) 4/4 after it shrank a little. Meanwhile, the two gents who followed us (you know who you are!! ) decided to erect the AW easy up hood. By the time hood was up they were sitting in a "pool" of ice Not the first time I'd been caught in a hail storm and no doubt will not be the last! It's called the joy of Morganning. Just make sure you dry things out once home

Summer 2017. Was on the M4 headed to play in a golf match. Sunny so hood down. A sudden hailstorm .... needed but speed way too high as on the M4! Very painfull at 70 mph. Even when slowed to 50mph. Luckily my sunglasses saved my eyes. I placed my hand in front my nose/chin to deflect the hail. Tonneau cover saved the passenger side and limited my side. No marks on the car either... Then yesterday while walking the dog got caught in a hailstorm. The hail was large pea sized and blown by a strong wind. The plus was it bounced off so stayed pretty dry. Monty didn’t care....he carried on as if nothing going on.

On the M27 and en route to Portsmouth for the ferry. (Le Mans Classic - 2012) Huge hail storm. We stopped (illegally) under a bridge to put the hood up. The road became an ice rink and on pulling away, we passed a Transit that had just had a spin. Really dangerous and quite frightening. We were very glad to reach the ferry safely.
However, the older gentleman who arrived at the ferry in a lovely Lotus 6, didn’t seem to mind. His car had zero weather equipment!
