...unless it starts to hailstone!

Glorious sunshine in Ayrshire tonight. Decided we'd go for a quick drive along the coast when suddenly we encountered an unexpected hailstone deluge!! Ouch, ouch ! surrender

Yes, thar can be very painfull and even dangerous. Assume you are ok.
I think in 2010, whilst on vacation in southern Germany, we had hail as big as eggs, my jaguar xjr got dented in many places like all cars in the area. Repair it was covered by my insurance, but prooved to be difficult due to it being an alluminium car.
Cheers,
Bert

Nasty pasty!

Never had the hail treatment in the Mog

A sudden very heavy downpour yes where I had to stick my umbrella up when I stopped in traffic but I seem to have avoided a hail bombardment .. so far

Yes Bert. All good thanks.

Fortunately it was fairly normal hailstone...but quite heavy and to be honest, a bit alarming as it was quite difficult to keep my eyes open! scared

When rain turned to hail on a dual carriageway the car, with the roof on, filled with hailstones almost instantly. The hailstones came up the screen and past the seals which had been doing a pretty good job of keeping the rain out.

We had a hail storm last year but not while we were driving. The Morgan was under cover but the VW and the Jag XE were out in the open. I moved the VW under a tree but gave up on the Jag because the hailstones were as big as walnuts and being driven by gale force winds. A few hits on the head convinced me that discretion was the better part of valour.

Fortunately the repairs were 100% covered by the insurance and I have to say the job they did was fantastic. The work was done in a day and the fact that it was aluminium did not seem to present any problem.
