Thank you for letting me in. I m in Denmark and used to ride brit bikes. (Never thought I d long for your 5/8" and 11/16th ;-)))). Was offered this project, no reg papers or anything. Is it possible to identify this? Owner is unable to find chassis no. Would it be possible to find axles, gearbox and other stuff? Here link to picture, you may have to copy paste it. I m not sharp at this.

If it's an old +4 the biggest problem is finding replacement moss gearbox, back axle and TR engine. Assuming you are going for originalty. All other parts can be sourced from numerous suppliers.

Looks to me like the KO is about right for this car. To re-build a car like this may be a great satisfaction but in the end it will cost you far more than the car is worth.

To start off with you would need to be sure it is a genuine Morgan and not a copy. If it is a copy it is definitely not worth touching.

You then need to be sure that you can actually get the authority to approve it to get it back on the road. Regulations differ from one country to another.

Most people who start these projects never finish them and then pass them on to someone else at a loss.

Unless you are a mad keen do-it-yourself restorer I would suggest that you look for something that is roadworthy or has been restored by someone else. In the latter case it will most likely cost you less than it has cost the person who restored it.

I do speak from personal experience: not a Morgan but a Maserati.

In any case welcome to the forum and the idea of Morgan ownership. The classic British sports car is great fun and fits in well if you are thinking of something more comfortable but with much of the same feel as motorcycling.

Thanks Peter, and others ;-) I have restored a couple of swedish cars, the last one a Volvo Amazon 121 B18 1964. A boring family car, but a nice project. My mate is into french cars, and will make the plate-work for me, while I build on his house. Im retired, so it may take some years, no problem. If I can find the chassis no, the authorities will let me register it. So my problem wil be to find parts. First I will need to id the parts in the photo, to see what parts I need. The reg no on the car seems to be british, doesnt it? Will it give any help in identifying it? The chassis no should be found behind the seats or at the bonnet hinge, I understand? I like the shape of these cars. My mate needs some competition also ;-)))) Cheers, John

Looks like most of the chassis and body parts are tpresent which is a good start.

Unless they are hidden there is no engine or drive train.

The engine can be sourced, but you will need a Morgan specific front plate.

The issues will be the bell housing, Moss gearbox, and Sainsbury back axle.

Most of the suspension and brakes can be either sourced, or modern components modified to fit.

Wiring and electrical components will be challenging but not impossible

I would say that it is a project that will takes a decade or so, and a good chunk of that will be assembling the collection of parts you need.

However even if you/your friend do all the work yourselves do not underestimate the cost. As others have said it would possibly be cheaper to buy a complete car. Not as much fun of course, but starting with a complete car would save an enormous amount of time and money.
