John whereabouts are you in Denmark, back in 1975 we worked out there for quite a while living in Tonder and on Romo for a while also. You have a lovely country full of very friendly people .

The chassis number should be stamped on the top of the chassis member under the seats. The numerals are small and might be concealed by paint and/or rust. The number will also be stamped on the flange at the front of the bonnet/hood What condition is the wood frame of the tub in?

Just a man size jigsaw puzzle and sometimes completing the puzzle is the more important factor.
In my younger days its just the sort of project I would have taken on. Good luck

Restoring this old Plus 4 is theoretically possible -- I've seen bigger restorations. But it is always more expensive and time-consuming than expected. The good thing about restoring the TR-engine Plus 4s is that all the parts (or superior substitutes) are available.
Before you make any decisions, you need to determine the chassis number, or at least the year of this car. Hopefully you can follow JCK's advice and find it. If you can't find the chassis number we can determine the date within a year or two by the width of the car, instrument layout, etc.
