On quite a lot of the actual photos the wind deflectors are mounted. Less on the older ones... I got a pair of them with the advice to be very careful mounting them as the previous owner managed to crack to Windscreens by tightening to hard.
Does it make a major difference having these extra things mounted? And what is ist? Is it wind? Is it noise? Or is it more styling - or in the end a hood nearly up thing.
There is a second set of screen pillars - so it seams I would have to dismount the folding mechanism first...
I`m curious...

Not me. I took the darn things off and notice no difference. I think they look silly, do nothing, and get in the way.

Actually I cant understand their use, mind you I prefer to go places with the sidescreens on -so probably no need in my case.

I have them fitted (the expensive glass and chrome ones that fit inside the doors) but I wouldn’t bother with them if I was making the decision again. I don’t find they make a great deal of difference but tend to have the sidescreens on most of the time anyway. They do get in the way a bit when the hood’s up.

If my memory is correct, the reason people have cracked their windscreens when fitting wind deflectors. Is because of the extra long fixing screws supplied with the kit , these are used to attach the pivot brackets to the windscreen frame and must be cut to size - otherwise when tightening , the end of the screw comes into contact with the edge of the glass and the tightening pressure results in the screen cracking .
Personally I wouldn’t venture far without them , I find they cut down the wind(chill in winter) considerably & prevent the radio being drowned by wind noise . If you use the side screens constantly then there is no need for them.

Thanks for the cutting the screws info. This sound very reasonable - much more than being careful in tightening. I would have overlooked it as screws should be made to fit;-)
There seem to be two groups so I will test all three ways. Aero screens, standard screen an deflectors. One more reason to drive ...

When the side screens are off ( all summer ),I find the deflectrs are great help to keep the draft out of my face. I've mounted them by drilling the pillers where the side screens slam shut.takes the risk away from the long bolts to the screen.

I took mine off last year. Didn’t find them hugely effective. is reluctant to have sidescreens off, especially if a motorway/fast road is on the route.
