TBM,
If you need any dimensions before you order just ask.

Yes, you have to shop around the Lotus dealers to find the cheapest, just like Morgan dealers I expect.
Cheers

Thanks again, and not forgetting the 'Morgan Mark-Up' - replaced the indicator switch recently, Morgan wanted over £100, but a near identical genuine lucas one for a mini cost under £30.

Put a reverse and fog light on the back of mine - Morgan parts were about £40 each, got Land Rover equivalents for £3.75 ....

And the Lotus one doesn't fit either. The collar is much bigger than the gearbox adapter.....

Getting VERY frustrated smile

Melvyn Rutter came back with a part number of BG2402/03 so will see what comes up with that.....

Found one with the right number on the Speedograph site, so have ordered one (£120!!!!!).

In the meantime, saw on a TR site, where someone had replaced the flexi quill, with a solid one fashioned from an allen key which he ground square. He was providing them for other TR owners with good results.

So, armed with the old drive, I created my own and welded it up. So far it has survived the 25 mile trip to work. I've also re-routed the speedo cable - the original route had some quite tight bends, which may have been creating some friction. We'll see what happens....

This is the MOST frustrating thing I have ever had to do in over 35 years of motor maintenance.......

Sent the Lotus one back.

Weld broke on my fix - not enough penetration. Pushed out the spacer washer, cover and circlip somewhere between here and MK making that unit un-repairable.

Collected Speedograph unit from Post Office. EXACTLY THE SAME DIMENSIONS/THREAD AS THE LOTUS ONE I JUST RETURNED.

However, as there doesn't seem to be a single person in christendom that knows the right part number/other model equivalent I have decided to order a new angle drive adapter (the bit that clips onto the gearbox with the Y bracket) from Lotus, so that will then fit the new angle drive perfectly.

So, for future reference:

Part Number for Morgan 4/4 1600 - known only to God
Part Number for Lotus Elan equivalent: BG2402/03
Part Number for Lotus Elan adaptor:FZZZ026Z (Paul Matty)
