We are heading to the Highlands to Strathpeffer.
Google maps tells me it is 10 hrs from Felixstowe. Bascially up the A1(M), left at Scotch corner via Penrith & Carlisle.
We would like recommendations for a stop over hotel near Penrith / Carlisle

I’ve stopped here a few times, it’s a lovely place and you’ll be well looked after. A bit further up the road at Moffat just off the motorway is the Old Stable Inn. Cheaper and more character than the Tebay motorway services hotel (which is ok but dear); and of course there is always the Crooklands hotel just off M6 at J36 for South Lakes. Love Strathpeffer ... look out for the stone maze just up the hill.

Thanks. Crooklands is too far south based upon coming up from Felixstowe.

How about The George and Dragon in Clifton https://www.askhamhall.co.uk/george-and-dragon/ excellent gastropub/hotel just off the M6, south of Penrith. Excellent food, peaceful night's sleep, we stayed there in 2014 on our way up to the Kyle of Lochalsh and we're staying there again on our way up to the Bo'ness Revival, thoroughly recommended!
