When I did mine, I first made sure that the clock position would not interfere with wooden frame that dash is screwed to. I also did pilot hole, reverse cut first and then forward. No cutting of veneer beforehand and it came out clean. Two things I found: the dash was something like 9 ply, and as the blade advanced, the glue in the ply got pretty warm and sticky and smoked a bit. Having finished the hole, it was a little too tight for the clock, so I use an abrasive flap wheel on a drill to open it out. Found plenty of length on the wiring loom.

Cutting holes in Dash Boards thats one thing. Cutting holes in TinTop roofs to fit Glass Sunroof now thats scary, but i am pleased to say out of a good few i did in my day i never oversized.

I think I would use an expanding brace and bit. The hand operating is far slower and less likely to slip and is infinitely variable in diameter. I use to use one when fitting the old style yale locks.

Here we go - when I have five minutes, I'll pull it out, hoover behind the vinyl (lots of dust) and stick the edges down for a smarter job.

Very smart, you look to have the same steering wheel as me they are the most comfortable I've found in 15 years for a Morgan.
