From miles 300 to 600 or so, my check engine light was one. Had it at two different mechanics, Morgantown WV and Lewisberg, and they couldn't figure out why. After one trip to the PA dealer, maybe a couple of hours driving after getting back, it went off and never came back on.

There's a different mechanic there now, but I don't remember him ever mentioning messing with the ECU, other than to reset the codes. The gist I got for all the mechanics was keep an eye on it and see if there is any other indication of an issue.

It's not come on in the thousands of miles since, so maybe the bulb burnt out.

My experience with the idiot light was similar. Hasn’t been on since.

The day after my post, on the way home from work, the light came on.

These things are sentient, you can hurt their feelings. Only speak well of them

Try removing the air filter and wiping the oil around the throttle body butterfly/sensors - helped me and the light did not come back...

The oil comes from the crankcase breather that vents into the throttle body. If it's been standing for a while it can burp a noticeable quantity of oil at start up and it can even drool down the front of the engine from the air filter.

Does the crankcase condense enough to generate water droplets in the oil making for a milky oil appearance? I have seen that in automobiles but all my motorcycles were pre-emissions standards and didn’t close off the case and vent it to the carb.

I can see how that burping of oil up to the intake could create havoc on the system.

I had the engine light issue last week on my 2017 3-wheeler. I phoned the dealer who couldnt get me in for three weeks to do diagnostics. So I looked at the fuse box and found the mini USB under a little plate (with 1/16" hex screws!) Then I asked the dealer for the software ("we get it from Morgan"). I phoned Morgan and they said they get it from S&S but " dont worry, if the light is continuous you can still drive the car normally, only if its flashing is there an iminent engine problem. So I took the car out, thrashed it up the motorway in 4th and bingo - engine light went off! Has anybody obtained and used the S&S software yet? Is it Protune 2 or Guardian? Both appear on their website and S&S havent replied to an email enqiry about which one to use

Welcome to TM.

You want the S&S ProTune 2 software and a Windows laptop, free download from the S&S website. You will be able to see any fault codes and cancel them, history and a live readout but not a lot more with a locked ECU.
