Mk1 Aero 8. Having just returned from a 600 mile round trip in the mid 20c , I have discovered that despite roof off (of course,) and air con on (which blows ice cold), at 80mph I have hot air travelling up the steering column and blowing straight at my inner "knee" . Whilst this is quite pleasant in the winter, it makes summer driving a little hotter than I would like . Has anyone had any experience of this and is there any quick fixes ? I am sure it is just air being forced from the engine bay, but would love to find a way of minimising it ?

Is it a specific ventilation effect or is it heat soak from the bulkhead and alloy panels around the gearbox being drawn by the top-down airflow in the footwell ? Flip the lid up for a short time and see if the vent effect is still happening ?
It is quite common for the heat soak from the engine to warm the cockpit. In the S2 after a long run my left knee is usually pretty roasted from leaning against the gearbox area in order to avoid resting on the clutch.
Options are greater engine bay venting as far as I am aware.
To reduce the warm engine bay air being drawn into the cabin I have put a second layer of insulation around the intake in front of the windscreen. This raises it up higher and seals against the bonnet underside.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I have often wondered about fitting bonnet extensions, which should improve the air exchange under the bonnet adding a better escape route.
Has anyone any experience of fitting these to an Aero, do they help?

I get this in my S1. In fact, after a while the handbrake becomes extremely hot to the touch. A call to the selling dealer resulted in me being told 'they all do that Sir'. I believe it is simply heat transfer from the engine bay/gearbox

A well known problem on the Landrover Defender as well! Buy some heat shielding such as 'Nimbus'... or other options such as here... https://www.demon-tweeks.com/au/motorsport/car-preparation/heat-shielding-protection/and locate/fix it between the heat source and your body part! I have used it with great success.

Yes the gear stick and handbrake can become quite hot. I tend to have one of the A/C vents pointing directly at them if I am alone in the car. If the good lady is with me she has both of the vents...
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I know that the trad is different but there is a big problem with engine hot air entering the ventilation system. Below is my solution to this from an earlier post. It should be noted that in the standard setup there is a gap in the foam where the bonnet hinge is and this allows hot air to enter the air intake. Very poor design!   My mod for the heater/aircon intake was finished today. I made the blocking piece from a sheet of PVC cut and bent into shape. Where the material was bent a crack opened but it is only in the upper surface and I will use a little black silicon to fill it. If ever I replace it I will probably use a piece of aluminium instead now that I have the shape needed. The closed cell foam is fairly light and will sit against the under surface of the bonnet insuring that only outside air, not hot engine bay air, enters through the louvres and into the heater airbox.

You're welcome Oz. In summer here it can get almost like Brisbane: temperature around 38°C and high humidity. The last thing one wants is hot engine air coming through the ventilation system. After having to work using a car without aircon in a Sydney heat wave in the late 60s I swore I would never own another car without aircon. That is why our Plus 4 has aircon, even if it is not all that good. When it gets really hot and the sun starts to fry my brains I put the hood up and the aircon on
