I'm trying to identify what I have, which I now know is the Range Rover version.
The reason I wanted to know was that I will be getting the sump baffled and currently have two sumps, one of which is currently on the engine. I'm lead to believe that the Range Rover version was the preferred type to baffle.
I have both oil pick ups etc

My 94 +8 has SD1 sump with the drain plug on the LHS when looking forward and 50% shallow v well. 6 inch clearance from the ground with no load.

Thanks Bruce. Sounds like you have the Range Rover sump, not an SD1. From what I've learned, most plus 8's use the RR sump as it's a bit shallower and has greater oil capacity.

My car is a 2002 with the 4litre designation. The sump is pressed steel...thankfully! It has a dent from an unavoidable rock. Frightening bang! No leaks. It fellfrom a trailer I was following and no room to miss it due to oncoming traffic.
The sump plug is on lhs.
The deeper section is towards the rear. Apart from the rock incident the car has only grounded on the chassis cross member gearbox support.
