Hi Chaps Im a four wheeler owner but wanted to ask you tricycle guys a quick question I have a friend who is an exceptional machinist. He also has a strong interest in cars etc. He mentioned to me in passing that he would love to design and make a sliding canopy, aircraft style that could be retro fitted to M3Ws. Is there a market for this in your world ?

The fun of driving a M3W is the direct interaction with the elements. That may answer your questions

I seem to remember a concept design that had such a canopy. Based on a Spitfire type canopy. I don’t know if one was actually made though.

I think John posted a "concept" he produced using a graphics program, very convincing too it was as long as you overlook the need to move the steering to the centre!

...I have a friend who is an exceptional machinist. But certainly a screen + weather protection device, like a trad hardtop (per the +6 for example). Challenges would be - aesthetics - accomodating a luggage rack - disassembly and in-car storage if touring - ventilation / condensation / wipers - vibration proofing I'd suggest a roof canopy, maybe canvas, attaching to a varient of the Fairbourne. Suggest your mate has a chat to them as they had some thoughts re a roof for a 5sp... or maybe the factory would be interested in a chat?

I remember G56 had a canopy design a few years ago as well. Not my cup of tea, but I can see the attraction.
