Went to Sutton Hoo today to do a volunteer shift. Nice dry sunny weather but windy. The fun part today was handling the replica helmet belt clasp & cloak clasp. There were also plenty of blue bells in the adjoining wooded areas.

I drove little jeannie for the last time today. All cleaned , checked over, ready for her new custodian to collect tomorrow (Saturday ) A lovely 6yrs of enjoyment The new owner of the morgan is a TM member

Sutton Hoo is a national trust property but bizarrely it seems English Heritage sell them.

Sutton Hoo is Anglo Saxon though undoubtedly there is a connection to the Vikings as that was more a job description than a country. Viking = raider in old English.
The site was within the Dane law area but the graves date from c 625 AD so before the Vikings arrived in the 8th & 9th century.
There is a Viking exhibition in Norwich castle I intend to visit as part of Mog 19
