I fitted them to my 1982 Plus 8 36 years ago - ex John Worrall. I had to remount the brackets to allow them to open and close fully. They look pretty and are of most benefit when the sidescreens are off. I fitted rubber door sealing strip over the inner edge of each and this completely closes the gap between each one and the screen, making them more effective. As there is now no wind flow through the gap the side screens don’t billow out at speed. Another benefit is that they conveniently hold the door open. I’ve seen many in the past wrongly fitted.

The varying reports on the effectiveness of the wind defectors, can be related to how tall the morganeer is.
Short folk, sit with their nose against the windscreen and well below the top of it (I exaggerate of course). These short morganeers, will see some improvement of the deflectors.
Tall folk, have their seat as far back as possible. They catch much more of the air coming into the cockpit around the windscreen. Wind deflectors do not do much for them. Use of side screen helps, as the are longer AND stop the upward air flow coming into the cockpit just behind the side mirror. You can easily find this flow when you block it with you hand. A balcony style deflector would help.
Taller ones also get more wind from the back, a windstopper will work. But not everyone finds this acceptable on a Morgan...
I am about 6ft2 and dumped the wind deflectors, and often have the sidescreen on, particularly when having a passenger and when driving longer above say 100 kmph. Also, I am too lazy to take the side screens off every time.
Hope this helps explain why different morganeers report differntly on the effect of wind deflectors. BTW Morganeers do not need aerodynamically based reasons to differ in opinion. smile

Sounds very reasonable...

But there are good reasons besides aerodynamics: e.g. the possibility to break them with side screens;-)

So the question would be wether Morganeers need any reason at all to build opinion?

For me the most important input was the advice on length of the screws - so I might just test it;-)
