Krazy Horse have posted a short video on Facebook about prepping a car for Alan Braithwaite to drive across India .

Hopefully someone more technically competent will know how to post it here .

Anyone here know anything about it , it'll be interesting to hear how he gets on !

Here we go HJP - thanks for the heads up on this trip. That is a very brave trip and I wish them well.

My son and his girlfriend have recently returned from a 3 month adventure in India by public transport and that was quite epic in parts.

Thanks Richard , that's actually a better video than the one I saw .

I also see that Krazy Horse are now offering an Ohlins kit and the option of a wider rear tyre , not quite sure how that'll fit as the existing size is obviously very close to the belt .

Oops thread drift already !

A brave trip indeed.

My daughter and a couple of her friends did a trip from Kochi in the south to Jaisalmer in the North in a 3 wheeler in 2017 (albeit a 7hp 2 stroke tuk tuk). It most certainly was a great adventure, which had me thinking of that verse from Kipling “A scrimmage in a border station, a canter down some dark defile. Two thousand pounds of education drops to a ten rupee jezail”.

Happy to report that despite rolling it outside Bangalore (and so getting in the local TV news) and running out of petrol in a tiger reserve, all ended happily.....

Full respect to Alan for undertaking this trip!
I don't know if he gets to read TM, but I would add the following to his preparation list:

Replace Banner battery if fitted.
Replace stock fuel pump with a superior item.
Reinforce fuel tank brackets & regularly check tank strap tensions during trip.
Familiarise yourself with the location of the fuel pump safety cut-off switch.
Consider fitting an off-road type rear tyre and use a 'slime' type puncture prevention product in the tyre.
Fit Blockley front tyres for more tread depth.
Consider replacing stock regulator with H-D one and solid-mount it to the bracket, eliminating potential rubber bobbin failure.
Take spare exhaust bobbins.
Fit high quality adjustable shock absorbers (and have them set 'soft')!
Remove NVH bevel box mounting hardware and replace with Phil Bleazey's solid mount kit.
Take a spare fuel filter.

What I found interesting in the video, besides the obvious grand trip, was that raising the ride height is possible.

Does the rear suspension on a stock 3 wheeler allow for the lift in ride height?

If someone is not racing the 3 wheeler then the added height might not be all that bad an idea.

The Euro 4 cars have a higher, ride height, 2 inches higher I believe, and on those models the swing arm can be lowered to the same ride height as the Euro 3 and rest of the world cars.

ROG, that sort of implies that the swing arm us universal and that the Euro 3 cars could be raised to Euro 4 spec, true?

There is a 2014 and newer are the current issue and a "raised ride height" part listed. It does not differentiate between Euro 3 or Euro 4 so that must just be understood at the factory.

A160044-45 being the higher ride height, and A160015-16 being the normal height.
