Hello all,

Its looking likely that I shall be returning to the fold after two years since the lovely sport grey car was sold to Ted in Germany.

I am looking to replace the roll hoops on the car below as one has been cut and welded for a nitrous bottle.

How easy are these to replace, I presume you can get to this area with seats out and the inner panel removed?

I have asked via e-mail Mark Evans at the factory, about prices but yet no reply, and rough ideas?

Nitrous oxide,,, for the driver or the engine? Since the bottle is located next to the driver and not under the bonnet close to the engine it makes one wonder.

As to the roll hoops, aren’t they bolted in?

I havn't had mine out so I don't know if the hoops are drilled or slotted - that would be useful info if you wouldn't mind posting it.
I can tell you, however that the bolts are accessible from the boot area after you take out the plastic luggage tray.
good luck,
Phil

There was an interesting thread on here about this a while back by bunny I think.

Worth finding as after taking the bolts out he had to use a screw jack between the body and inside of hoop forcing it up and out to push it out.

The roll hoops are just bolted in but are usually over tightened, the tubes are then distorted and not easy to remove. Nippymog is correct about Bunny doing this job some time ago, the info is here:

That looks like an interesting project, an early car by the look of it with a G56 air filter ....and a nitrous bottle! Have a close look at the chassis for cracks in the usual places.

You could use a overhead winch, come a long, chain fall, etc. to lift the hoops out and then you would have to attempt to reform the ends of the hoops to accept putting in new ones or refitting the old ones. Good luck with that! Maybe the nitrous might be necessary to boost your spirits after all the work, or during😊

Have the Aero screens been cut down as well?

That is one solution for the screens.
