Hello all! We're getting closer to June! I've needed a bit of time to focus on other things but am now back at the identification of destination and route options for this trip.

Given the relatively small size and seasonality of most places that can accommodate a group of our size, I'm finding that we'll need to coordinate with those proprietors but they are happy to do so. Stay tuned for a list of options for consideration....!

Just a reminder of how nice it is to ride through Appalachia.... overlooking Pulaski, Virginia

Are there any activities planned for Sunday, June 16th, or is it just a “pack up & check- out” day?

Hello all! It's May 1st so T-43 days!

UPDATE - as of today, Skyland Lodge reports only six (6) confirmed room reservations using the '5AL6S8' Group Code booking number. Multiple people - I don't know how many - booked rooms individually. If this is YOU, please call the Reservation line at 877.247.9261 (can even ask for Nicole Reynolds) to get your reservation tagged to this Group number!

Please raise your hand here too to confirm you're coming!

To plan or reserve venues, we need a reasonably close estimate of the number of vehicles and folks participating. The beauty of this area is that it's rural with small towns. The best quality vineyards and venues book solid quickly and or have limited openings or capacities. A few have offered to make special accommodations for our fleet but require advanced headcount.

Preliminary Highlights - Planned Group Activities:
(Note: Ride route recommendations to follow)

Thursday, June 13:
5:15 PM - Family-style dinner with beer/wine at Skyland Lodge.
The restaurant opens at 5:30 but we will be seated as a group at 5:15 to keep us together.

Friday, June 14:
7:30 AM - Breakfast: Skyland Lodge
8:30 AM - Technical Session, Oil Cooling, Emil Rolando

Lunch: TBD (ride route dependent)

Dinner: Barboursville Vineyard and Palladio Restaurant, 1765 Winery Rd., Barboursville, VA

6:30-8:30 PM - Reserved fine dining on the veranda (if 12-20 people) or Main Dining room (if 20-40 people). Featuring a three or four-course meal with paired wines and Northern Italian fare. See link for menu options.
6:00 PM - Pre-dinner reception to include two Chef selection canapes and sparkling wine in the Tasting Room

Cost: The 3-course, wine paired dinner is priced at $105 per person; the 4-course, wine paired dinner is priced at $125 per person (plus 9.3% tax and 20% gratuity) We need to lock on either 3-4 courses so let me hear your thoughts....absent outrage, the default will be four!

Note: By seven (7) business days prior to the event, or Tuesday, June 4th, we will need to have a final guest count, any food allergies/dietary restrictions and entrée selections for each guest (either beef, poultry, seafood or vegetarian). Please make that decision when making your reservation!

Reservations: 540.832.7848
Note: please make your own reservations and reference the M3W Rally to ensure we sit together.

Just a 45-minute ride from Skyland Lodge, Barboursville Vineyard is one of the finest in Virginia and the Palladio restaurant is nearly impossible to book at this time of year. We're lucky!
Idea is to arrive together as a fleet at 5:00 PM for a photo session.

Saturday, June 15th:
7:30 AM - Breakfast: Skyland Lodge
8:30 AM - Technical Session, TBD

Lunch: North American Sake, located in IX Art Park, 522 2nd St. SE, Charlottesville, VA
Phone: 434.767.8105

12:00-2:00 PM - Reserved funky, budget-friendly fun lunch with paired, on-site produced sake. Sake 'brewery' tour included. Located in the hip IX Art Park in Charlottesville, there is plenty of activity to enjoy here and it's a nice contrast to the relative formality of the previous evening! Parking is plentiful. For those who prefer local bourbon or whiskey to sake, there is an excellent brew option just 15-minutes away!

Dinner: TBD (possibly back at Skyland Lodge, at least for parting libations!)

Sunday, June 16:
Breakfast or Brunch: Skyland Lodge

Departures....or continuations!

More Ideas and suggestions are welcome and encouraged! Michael

HEADS UP!!!!!!

The 'release date' for rooms at Skyland Lodge is Tuesday, May 14th! After this date, they can not guarantee room availability!!

Also, I've confirmed that there is some parking space for trailers along the side of the picnic area. But of course, this is first come, first served as well. There is no RV or pull thru space, however.

I called today and had them move my reservation under the group reservation code so it should show up on your count now.
