Has anyone on here fitted the Avon CR6ZZ Tyres to their 4/4 with the OEM 5 inch wide rims?
If so, what size please... I can only see 185/70/15's as available...?
Any thoughts about comparison with the Avons to the Vredestein?

Pete. I can only tell you what will add to your confusion. My 2012 4/4 Anniversary came with 185/70 Avons. I never liked them because they were very twitchy in the wet. Worse than any other tyre I've experienced. I replaced them with Vredestein and it was chalk and cheese. The Vredesteins were so good that I tried to get some for my new build in 2016, but they were temporarily unobtainable. So I went for Blockleys, but they touched the upper spring mounting. So I had to have the Avons...... but this time its a very different experience. They are superb in the wet. The only difference visually is that now the centre tread groove is zigzag. The earlier Avons were straight. But there are also three compounds available for the Avons, and I suspect this may be why.

Did you get the CR6ZZ Avons? Are they 185/70/50 and are your rims 5 inches wide?

Yes, standard 4/4 wires, 185/70 Avon CR6ZZ which is the standard fit for the narrow Plus 4.

I have them on the same wheels on my NB +4 brilliant tyre if a little expensive.

Grip in the dry is awesome.
Grip in the wet is pretty good.
Grip on flooded road, well none they aquaplane easily.
I understand however the tread pattern has changed slightly on the more recent ones. Which may improve the very wet performance.
I believe DaveW found the originals a bit “ squirmy” too.
Look good to in that size.
I have also heard some run 175s on the front & 185s on the rear.

Interesting, you only loose 3.5mm ride height with that size too, so not to big a difference and speedo will only be out by 2.96% ie it will read 1.77kph high ( you will be doing 58.2kph when it reads 60kph) - if my calls are correct. So an added safety camera margin 👍🏻

I am betting you live in the 'police states' of NSW or VIC! Being 1.8kph over the limit could cost you 3 more points! I hate driving there... no tickets, points or accidents in 40 years driving in the UK, yet managed to get caught 3 times in my first year in Sydney and Melbourne... once on the Hume Highway doing 102 kph in a 100 kph limit!!

I live in the best state of Tassie where the Police are friendly and there are almost no radar traps. I agree totally about Vic and Nsw , the paranoia in Victoria about speeding there makes people take kilometre after kilometre to overtake, rather than a quick out pass and back in. We went for a driving holiday in Victoria last month and it’s scary. Radar traps everywhere, they book you for being 2k over and the Hulme as we entered Melbourne had fixed cameras roughly every 500meters. It’s a driving hell. Was very happy to get back of the ferry home in Tassie where speed is enforced by sensible police sensibly. 😂
