Although part number is correct, are there any other markings on the many cheaper ones around such as C-H-I-N-A for instance?

Just take care for the right cylinder diameter:

Original diameter 23,81mm
Ford Transit diameter 22,2mm

Optically, they are identical.

So far I did not find a Transit cylinder with a diameter of 23,81mm.

If my maths is correct, that represents a reduction of force applied to the brake shoes of 13% for the same pedal pressure.

So I had a attempt at fixing this tonight but need a flat head screwdriver socket attachment for the drums....

Anyway I did discover that the rear brakes do not work at all from
The pedal and there is only a 1cm of movement on the petal were it gets stuck and needs a pull to come back...

It is more likely to be the Master Cylinder / Blockage air in the system?

If you have wires, the drums are retained by the four conventional bolts, you don't need to touch the slotted screwheads.

Test the hydraulics by bleeding each side and see if the fluid comes through ok.

Were the brakes ok before you started?

If it was air in the system, the pedal would likely move much further. Is it possible there are two separate issues here? A seized/corroded rear cylinder and a broken return spring on the brake pedal?

If it's the rear brakes (plural) not working I'd have thought it's more likely to be a seized master cylinder. The return spring's been broken for years on my pedal without causing any problems.

So took the rear drum apart, the cylinder is seized so that is the likely cause. Sadly the transit cylinders don’t fit!! They are too big and the mounting hole does not line up.. so will have to wait till next week when I get replacements.

Interesting trying to get it booked in to Track and Classic, would be July and BHM would be August so doing it myself..
