All,

I am thinking of a wee trip across with the S1 and do a factory visit ... never been. Probably third week in June ... will probably go via Dublin/ Holyhead, do a run through Wales and may (depending on time) drop into Devon/Cornwall.

Questions:

Is there a good/ better day/ time to do a factory visit?
Anywhere nice to stay nearby?
Any nice places to stay N. Wales when I come off ferry
What’s the best road through Wales?
Anywhere nice to stay Cornwall?
Roads Devon/ Cornwall?

Ian

Ian, We stayed at Stanford Abbey hotel. It was very good. Between Worcester and Malvern, and down a country lane. Interesting building, special breed sheep in the next meadow. Good base. I got a deal on ‘Secret Escapes’.
Avis gave me an orange/black Smart car at B’ham airport. It was quite well equipped and I was only going to the factory because Morgan computer based spec system didn’t work at the dealers. Still have an S5 with no radio.
Have fun

If you want a view and have your own transport then go for The Cottage in the Wood. Perched high up on the eastern slopes of the Malverns the views across the Vale of Severn are really something.

Food and accommodation are pretty good the last time i was there (admittedly some years back now!)

The Cottage is still our hotel of choice there, and well positioned for walking the hills. It changed hands a couple of years ago and the rooms are being refurbed.
Exceptional car park, which is what I look for.

The Bluebell at Callow End, 5 minutes walk away is very pleasant to eat as well.
