Hi dears, i'm looking to buy new wire wheels for my 4/4 year 1971. As i understood the car can fit 15x4,5 60 spokes or 15x5 72 spokes wheels... which one you suggest considering that i use the car not more than 2000km/year? I'm looking to MWS wire wheels http://www.mwsint.com/Regards! Fabio

Which size was originally fitted on the car? (i heard that usually were fitted with 15x4,5).

15 x 4.5" are the original size

So you suggest to go for 15x4,5?
My 4/4 actually fits 15x5 72 spokes...

Not necessarily. Your second post asked which was the original size That was what I was answering. The 5" are from later cars. I don't know whether they might cause problems with tyre clearance with the narrow bodied car that you have. My '76 (also narrow bodied) is on original sized wheels - replaced by a previous owner a lot of years ago. Newer tyre sizes may need the extra width wheels though - you need to check whether there will be any clearance problems. Cheers,

The top of the Front Damper mount will be where the tyre hits... IF!! the tyre is wider than the wheel... if not you may get away with it.

Actually i fit 15x5 72 spokes with 165 80 15 tyres, but i think i will go for 15x4,5 60 spokes with 165 80 15 tyres...

Now that it has been solved, I figure noone would mind asking a related question.
Many people on Mogtalk have been talking about getting their wire wheels trued properly, and how hard it is to find a place.
Is there something special about wire wheels for cars, or couldn't any motorcycle shop true it - I mean, if they true motorcycle wheels at all at that shop, of course?

If the shop has a suitable support on the trueing device for "our" wheels it should be no problem - except costs, of course.

Many people on Mogtalk have been talking about getting their wire wheels trued properly You can do a basic check with the wheel on the car. Just jack it up so you can spin it, arrange a fixed point next to the rim and see how much it wanders when spun. The hard bit is deciding on what is acceptable. Frankly if you can't feel it when you drive it's not an issue.
