Bump stops and anti tramp bars may serve you well. But they are symptom treaters. I have the 4 leaf 4 seater springs with adjustable AVOs. Do this first. The other measures may help against twisting and lateral forces. But the spring itself remains too weak.

I would be surprised if the torque delivery of a standard plus 4 really merits anti tramp unless you are into really flooring it with racing starts.

4 seater springs may serve you well. But they are symptom treaters I see the problem as the very limited rear suspension movement that these cars have. Stiffer 4 seater springs is certainly one way to stopping the knocking that can occur from insufficient room. I have a different perspective and see my ‘soft springs’ as a good thing. I believe softer springs give better comfort, allow better traction on a choppy road surface and their 135lbf/inch rate is a close match to the rate of my front spring giving a good overall balance to the car. Progressive stops tackle the problem of limited movement by complimenting the leaf springs with a rising rate at the end of the suspension travel. Whilst preventing body contact they also reduce body movement/roll too. Another subtle advantage is that they absorb some of that horrible jiggly vertical axle energy and allows me to run my Rutherford AVO’s on the comfy setting.

Im not driving Miss Daisy I give it some beans when setting off and it tramps. I imagine its a bigger problem on bigger engine cars but still, needs sorting. EDIT- on bumpy-ish surface. On smooth even surface it doesnt do it.

I fitted Rogers bump stops with my "soft" (it's all relative isn't it ) springs and it transformed the car. Far better than my previous car which had harder leaf springs. Much less jumping around in corners. The compliance really helps and the bump stops are progressive so work in a very subtle way. I'd thoroughly recommend them as a first step. They aren't expensive and even if you don't find it enough of a solution, they are a great permanent fixture whatever setup you finally go with. Nick

Well, there are different philosophies and in the end only that counts what each one is satisfied with.
But I have to stress that in my case the standard leaf springs were too soft and that the 4 leaf 4 seater springs are still very comfortable. On the contrary, because these new springs are at the right working point I can adjust the dampers softer and the end result is more comfortable than before with too soft springs that had to be slowed down by hard adjusted dampers. The balance is maintained because I also have the tighter Mulberry 140 pounds in front.

Bump stops. Am I right in saying that they stop the springs bumping on the frame ? But the springs still bang onto the bump stops ? So they dont 'fix' a problem, they make the bump a bit softer?

Bonesie See Rogers bump stops Especially the graphs which show how the stops work.

Fit 5 link supension. You get a comfortable ride, panhard rod, and there is no need for anti tramp bars. Handling is improved as well.
You will never get a limousine ride with a Morgan because of the ancient chassis design an the limited travel but a 5 link suspension system will keep everything under control and optomise what you do have. Even Morgan went to a 5 link system on the ARP4.
