If you get floaters in your eyes or a shadow in your vision....get to hospital pdq. Last night I spent an hour in an operating theatre with a detached retina. No driving 4 to 6 weeks no gig rowing until September. If you get changes in your eyes get them checked

Sorry to read about your problems, I do hope you will be o.k. however, just to dampen any concerns, I have had "floaters" in my eyes from day one and have had regular eye tests for many a long year so please, don't all get too concerned but of course do get those eyes checked.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, as Reg says don't panic if you have floaters I have had them forever but get checked annually under a Diabetes Type 2 regime.
If in any doubt get checked out though.

I first asked an optician about floaters 25-30 years ago. Nothing to worry about normally. But, I have an thorough eye test every 2 years anyway which will pick up abnormalities.

Pete Worthwhile advice. My optician once told me that if it’s not dealt with really quickly, (i.e. don’t waste time with Doctors, but go straight to the nearest eye hospital) the section of detached retina can die off rapidly, and beyond repair.
