I'm with Rolsmith - not noticeably smoother but punchier in the midrange.

I have the Morgan Aero Racing Stage 1 ( high flow air filter and high flow exhaust ) and Stage 2 cams with the Garage 56 unlocked ECU optimized for Stage 1 and Stage 2.
The engine is now capable of performing much better at lower RPM so you don’t have to downshift quite as much and seems to be much more free revving. I would say the engine runs more smoothly than without stages 1 and 2 but I have to say my engine seems to run much smoother when I first start driving when the engine is cooler than after driving for awhile when the engine is hot.

When it is hot I would bet it has a bit more compression.

...The engine is now capable of performing much better at lower RPM so you don’t have to downshift quite as much.... I always had the feeling that low RPM driving was putting much more stress to the compensator. For my feeling 2700 RPM to 4000 RPM was best for a smooth running system.

That’s a good reason to keep the RPMs up.
Thanks.

When you guys changed the cams the install instructions say hold the lifters up with a magnet. I assume 4 magnets AND it does not say what kind/configuration of magnets.
The pushrod tubes are ferrous so a magnet on a string won’t work because it would never make it down there. Magnet on a stick is what I am thinking, 4 of them, but how big a magnet? Did you make a guide for the magnets?
Please, enlighten me.

They slide easily, so even a 5mm magnet on a stick will probably do it easily although ours were bigger, maybe 8mm-10mm. Clothes pegs are pretty handy for gripping/holding the 'stick' in the raised position too....

Sounds great. Got the cams off the cam plate tonight so moving along. Just checking on the lifters as one fell out as the magnet was not well positioned. is there a certain way the lifter goes back up or pretty much push it back up and make sure the roller is aligned left to right?
The other issue is the belt tension round thing is dented on the edge so I will need to order a new one. Not fun as that is a spendy little devil. Mine too was dented on the edge! Same guy must have installed the belts :-( And you are correct over $210 for that little devil!! Good thoughts 2Sharp and all else who contributed to this Thread. I am doing roller rockers at the same time. A tip, get the correct stud remover tool and the correct stud installing tool...
