Bearings can be affected by brinnelling. Brinelling can be caused by a heavy load resting on a stationary bearing for an extended length of time. As the S&S x-wedge uses plain shell bearings for both mains and rods, I can't imagine this would be an issue. The issue you describe is much more likely with ball bearings due to the high point loads involved.

Sportster engines do not like sitting for long periods. Bearings can be affected by brinnelling. Brinelling can be caused by a heavy load resting on a stationary bearing for an extended length of time. The result is a permanent dent or "brinell mark".
If possible turn the engine over occasionally & move the car if on its wheels or turn them if jacked up. “Sportster” engine ??? I think he meant “Sportster, engines .....” he was really to someone with the screen name Sportster rather than reffering to the Harley 😄 The comma was missing

Lightspeed I think you mean babbit bearings. Brinnelling affects roller & ball bearings. The bigger & heavier the engine more likely to be affected. Very large engine may have a mechanism to bar them over occasionally or even keep them turning very slowly.

Ken the post was in response to Sportster. You are correct, I did mean Babbit Bearings, darn Autocorrect on the phone and bad glasses keep me from catching thing quickly. Once on the big computer then all usually goes well.
