I choose my hotels starting with the car park. Our last stop on Friday/Saturday had a generous car park behind an electric gate, with unusually wide spaces. So far so good.

I parked next to the electric charging point, which was three from the entrance door on the right hand side, with literally two feet each side to the lines.

I came down to pack the Roadster on Saturday afternoon, to find that the Dutch Classic car group, of four cars had arrived. The guy with the XK120 had parked in the electric space, but to leave access, he parked less than two feet from the Roadster. When I got there his door was resting on my front wing.

Now he was 6ft6in, and not thin, so you will imagine my concern that he's jiggling in and out. I pointed this out and got the usual "oh sorry I didn't realise" which is bollocks.

His Jag was basically an oily rag, with a dented rear wing and overall scruffy appearance, so I guess he didn't care. The hotel staff later complained about the bad manners and arrogance of this group, who were all middle aged and 'respectable'.

Luckily there was no mark, so I dodged a bullet, but really? We make absolutely sure that we never touch another car when parked up, but it seems that even classic car people can't be relied on.

At Fort Augustus, a Ferrari parked next to us, and when I get time I'll post the photo.

Yes appalling behaviour if at all possible I never park next to cars with any type of child attributes inside like child safety seats, teddy bears, dolls as in my opinion kids are not trained to get out of cars carefully and many parents don’t even notice what is next to them when yanking an irritable toddler out of the back seat! My kids had to be careful getting out as careless behaviour cost them a weeks pocket money! Since my son has bought himself a nice Jag he has adopted this procedure!

Me too. Recently en route to Fort William we stayed overnight at The King's Head, Richmond. I phoned ahead to see if I could reserve a space in their small and awkward car park as I didn't want to leave it in the town square on a Friday night. God bless Louise, the manager, who said when you turn up let me know and I'll get you parked. Sure enough she came out straight away and started moving wheelie bins (impressively, two at a time!) to give me space to park safely.

At service areas, best to avoid parking next to White Van Man. Big doors. On this same trip to Scotland I watched as the driver's mate got in, with hands occupied by coffee and burgers - and clouted the car parked next to him.

Yes...park away from the busy spots in carparks. Look out for child carrying cars, white vans, Range Rover types......
Trouble is you park in clear, open spaces and find someone ignores the dozens of empty spaces and parks next to you.....grrrrr.
I do hate the twonks who park their “special” car across two spaces to prevent others getting close often using mother and child marked spaces.
I must admit that poor parking is one of my pet hates.
My previous Mog had a dent put in it by another car door. A Range Rover parked next to me. When I came back it had gone and a nice small dent in the bonnet in the perfect spot from the RR door swinging open. No note left.

There has been more than one occasion that I wished I was driving my full tracked armored vehicle. People like the preoccupied parents and the slovenly inbreds make life so unnecessarily difficult.
