no in the late 60's early 70s it was a DMU in winter.
We had a Manor class but also the Flying Scotsman for one summer

no in the late 60's early 70s it was a DMU in winter.
We had a Manor class but also the Flying Scotsman for one summer John, you were living every school boys dream, thanks for the information. A fellow bell ringer works for them and the steam is in service for a little longer every year, now from April to October plus a few specials outside this time.

Nice 110 mile round trip to Crediton Parish Church Flower Festival just stunning, and a trip around their 12 Bell Tower followed up with a nice lunch and great company. This is a big affair they took £1,000 in lunches in the preceding hour to us, they need £3 Million for a new lead roof so all in a good cause.
On the run back at Totnes a Ferrari Dino, Triumph Stag, Saint Volvo and Merc 450 seen and waved all with Belgian plates on.

The penultimate leg on my trip to the Baltics. From Aselage near Cloppenburg Germany across the back roads of Holland to the Hook of Holland and the overnight ferry to Harwich. Another 220 miles taking the total mileage to 2658 miles.
