I confess that I very much like my MB S500, I feel privileged to drive it. It drives effortless super comfi, glides over speedbumps ( surprises me every time, so that is a wow), has a superb audio system which you can enjoy as the car by itself is very quiet, great seating comfort, nice interior. It is in many respect (except in price) the opposite of my roadster.
Another car I like to drive is my wife’s S3, surprisingly fast.

Disagree. The 'wow' is in the eye of the beholder.

It's like choosing a wife. She may not be a supermodel, have won a Nobel Prize or be an heiress but (I hope..) there was something there that made your heart skip and continues to do so.

There are some 'modest' cars on this list, and I completely get it. Strip status out of the equation and just enjoy the fact that, sometimes, designers and manufacturers go beyond the minimum they could get away with, and the result is a 'wow' car.

That's how I understood the thread. It's not about calling the most expensive, fastest, most exclusive. That would be boring because you would end up with the same few cars. It's about what every single one of you feels like when you're driving a wow car or what you felt in the past.

The DeLorean caused quite a stir too, sometimes when we go to Trago Mills for gardening stuff there is a beaut parked up there. It still grabs the attention unlike the MERBMWUDI's all around it.

If I'm allowed racing cars, I would pick the Maclaren M6, M7, M15, M16. Perhaps it was the colour that was so striking

My current daily driver, humble as it is, makes me go Wow.

It’s not a particularly spectacular looker (but it does look good to me), or high performance but of all the cars I’ve owned (and I’ve owned more than is good for me!) it impresses me every time I use it.

It’s a Skoda Superb estate, with a 150 bhp 2 litre Diesel engine.

It’s comfortable, plenty quick enough, does 60+ mpg on a run, and is massively spacious inside.

Seems very well thought out with small things, like the fact that you can open the doors or tailgate in the rain and you don’t get the drip off the gutter hitting the interior of the car (always annoys me), has umbrellas in the front doors, each door bin can take at least a 1.5 litre bottle an ice scraper lives inside the fuel flap and so on.

Seems to be the first car in ages that I’ve owned that actually seems to have the user in mind.

And all for £30k in top L&K spec.

THAT makes me go “Wow”!

Just makes me wonder why I didn’t get one before!

I have a skoda octavia 162kw RS 6 speed manual.

It is amazling comfortable and practical easily fitting in lots of luggage and apart from the pronunciation of street names in the navigation system has a lot of electronics that work really well.

The active cruise control system works perfectly with the manual transmission and i can change up and down gears while it is active and the traffic in front is slowing down or speeding up.

We also averaged 5.5l/100km on a recent trip (52mpg).

What wows me is that a car can be so comfortable, practical, economical, fast, and fun to drive with the manual transmission.

I guess it shows that a car can have a lot of technology and have it work with the gearbox that i want when every other manufacturer tries to tell me i want an auto.

The Bora was a fantastic car. I drooled over it in the pages of Motor magazine.

Funny thing about McLaren F1 cars of that era......the orange was distinctive, and yet those in the Donington Collection were an ordinary yellow. I still don't know how much the paint has faded, or how much is my memory.

But for me, there have been two watersheds in racing cars. Seeing the Lotus 72 for the first time on the cover of Autosport, and seeing the line up of 25 Porsche 917s in Car magazine.
Wow barely describes the feeling. I was 16 in 1969.......
